The Study of Carpets, or Capetology, is the title of a new book released in Iran by Turaj Zhuleh. IBNA: The author has tried to introduce the field of capetology as a scientific discipline in the modern world in which various kinds of carpets and their weaving style are studies. Speaking with IBNA, Zhouleh said that he intended to focus on a number of topics regarding carpets that have so far been neglected in Iran, and of course the world, despite the establishment of a new academic program regarding the study of carpets. As he said, carpetology has been practiced in Europe over the past 130 years and is regarded entirely as a scientific field; moreover, various titles were released in the market during the closing years of the 19th century about the subject, he added. Zhouleh, a university lecturer, went on to add that the subject is still incipient in Iran and needs more emphasis on the part of researchers and scholars. The book is a wealthy account on the history of carpetology in the world, introduction of international figures of the subject and analysis of various views on the discipline. The book is released in English and Persian and makes a great reference for everyone interested in fathoming out carpets and their weaving style. Furthermore, the book is published in fine prints and entails pictures of historical carpets. Arranged in 256 pages, 3,000 copies of the book have been published by Yasavoli Publishing Institute in Iran.
