The Word will make you grow: And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man. Luke 2:52 KJV. Luke 2 relays a captivating story of Jesus; The Word made flesh and dwelling among mens, childhood, of how He always astonished many with his deep understanding and explanation of the scriptures. His secret was simple. He was always about his Fathers business [verse 49]; meditating on His law day and night and observing to do according to all that was written therein [Joshua 1:8] and as a result, his way was prosperous and He had good success: daily increasing in wisdom, stature and favour with God and man. It is no secret that a hungry child is an angry child. They are totally out of control and because of their undeveloped interpersonal skills, their choice of expression is tantrums and disarraying all thats in their path. It is even worse if they fail to connect their conduct to their hunger which often leads to their caregivers force-feeding them! We sometimes see this play out at the other end of the scale in the form of tantrums to the Lord. Oh why me Lord... What is wrong with me... Please lift this curse from me... and many other such prayer lines. These, coming from the Child of God who does not feed on Gods word daily and as such does not know their Fathers business are unfortunately the equivalent of the aforementioned childlike tantrums. Interestingly though, it is amazing how simple but poweful those kindergarten song lines are: Read your Bible pray everyday IF you want to grow... I have a joy joy joy joy down in my heart... and the like. Did we miss out on something...? The Word is the seed and the ground is mens hearts [Mark 4:13-20] and out of the fullness of the heart the mouth speaks/laments [Luke 6:45]. So choose to feed daily and after feeding, choose to grow, for growth too is a choice. And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; 1 Cor 3:1-2 NKJV. I imagine Apostle Paul wrote this epistle with the picture of 7 year olds running around with baby feeding bottles complete with their nipples! And they were throwing tantrums and being nuisances because their intake was insufficient to meet their energy requirements. They were way past the formative feeding stage! So brethren, let us feed on the Word for our daily growth and on stabilization, let us move on to the weightier issues of the Word, and then well make our ways prosperous and have good success. We are Blessed.
