The annual Rose of Clare Festival will be held in Cooraclare and Cree from Saturday the 3rd of August to Friday the 9th of August and to celebrate the year of the Gathering the festival will select a rose from the United States, England and Ireland but they must have Cooraclare or Cree connections. The Roses will be interviewed on stage on Tuesday and Wednesday night by Colm O’Connor from the Irish Examiner in the Cooraclare Community Centre. Tickets for the event can be obtained from Imelda Kelly at 90 59 056 and early booking is essential. The festival will include a song contest, parade, fun day at the GAA pitch, quiz, race night, duck race, golf and football tournament. A tug of war will be held at the field on Sunday and if you are interested in entering a team contact Declan Meaney at 086 19 32 338. This is open to groups and businesses the winner will receive the festival perpetual cup and trophies.
