The body is a covering, like a coat or shirt, that is pulled over a person, which is the soul, people in genneral accept their bodies as their identitiy. But the consciousness and body are sepperated. From boyhood to youthood to old age, the body changes, yet you remain the same person, you don´t change, the body is going through many developing stages, bones and mucles and brain expands, yet, you do not change, you do not feel different. The soul is changing bodies, sometimes, the soul is covered as a dog, as a tree, as a fish, as a bird, as a fox, but this human form of life is different, it is ment for self-realization, whereas the life of the animals are ment only for four things namely: 1. eating. 2. sleeping. 3. mating. 4 defending. So if the human form of life is utilized only for those four things, how is he any different from the animals, and how can he then understand God or Krsna? The first thing to realize is, that this body is not my real identity, it is a machine, and where do you see machines without operator? Even sophisticated robotics, computers, even vehichles demand the presence of consciousness, nothing works automatically, nothing is functionong without the presence of the operator, the spirit soul, therefore the body is a covering of the real identity, and is nothing but a machine.
