The media spin that this government shutdown is a 2 party battle is a lie. The House Republicans (who hold more seats than Democrats despite getting several million fewer votes) are entirely to blame. They rigged voting districts in multiple states to ensure that Democrats would be underrepresented. This extremist minority tried dozens of times to stop legislation that was duly passed by both houses of Congress, signed by the President of the United States, and upheld by the Supreme Court of the United States. This stunt is a combination of extortion, collective punishment, unconstitutional overreaching, and borders on treason. It IS THAT SIMPLE. If you cannot repeal a law despite rampant Republican abuse of the redistricting process, you have no right to punish a whole nation. Traitorous snakes. may the God you pay so much phony lip service to have mercy on your uncaring souls.
