The pickled onions are a nice touch, but the salad is still - TopicsExpress

The pickled onions are a nice touch, but the salad is still delicious without it (or just soak thinly sliced shallots in the dressing for a while before tossing the salad). The pickled onions, dressing and toasted sesame can be made several days ahead; keep the dressing and onions in the fridge. 2 tablespoons black sesame seeds, toasted (or white; black look prettier) Toast the sesame seeds in a small frying pan over medium heat 5-8 minutes. Up to 30 minutes before serving, toss the endive, watercress, pomelo, sesame seeds and a handful of pickled onions, if using, with the salad dressing and salt and pepper to taste.
