The students of the 2014 Intensive Translators Course interviewed - TopicsExpress

The students of the 2014 Intensive Translators Course interviewed a special Mystery Guest recently when Wasfia Nazreen accepted their teachers invitation to visit LTWA. As well as sharing details of her unusual life, she told them about reaching the summit of Everest (a much-reported achievement for this remarkable woman in 2012) her upbringing in Bangladesh, her education abroad (which brought contact with Buddhism) and her work for Tibetans, her travels (including in Tibet) and the Seven Summit challenge she set herself. Her photos put us into her world, even avalanches and frostbite! Now very involved in NGO work, she comes to Dharamsala often, and we look forward to hear more of her life. She was a fitting visitor on EID, as her father is Moslem and her mother a Sufi, and the class was very touched by her courage and insights, especially about the growing strength of Bangladesh women, and the environmental threats her nation of 170 million people has no choice but to live with.
