The use of Thrive products during preconception, pregnancy, and - TopicsExpress

The use of Thrive products during preconception, pregnancy, and breast feeding. This is one of the most frequent questions asked of me and many other promoters and I would like to give you MY opinion on the topic. It will be, unlike my other posts, short and sweet! Here goes... Except for the Thrive Premium Shake Mix (which can give you a balanced supplementation of essential vitamins and minerals that can help to promote optimum nutrition in those trying to conceive, pregnant, and breast feeding), I would not recommend consuming the Capsules or the use of the DFT products during pregnancy or breast feeding. Here is why... Caffeine in amounts as small as 200mg/day can reduce fertility by as much as 27% (based on information from the American Pregnancy Association). This is an issue with Thrive products in that there is natural caffeine (albeit quite minimal ~50mg) in the Capsules. In pregnancy, there are a few ingredients that I am not comfortable with (not that I am the end-all expert). Willow bark extract has aspirin-like effects and are generally to be avoided in pregnancy. Theobromine, guarana, caffeine, PEA, synephrine are theoretically not good for a developing fetus, but to be honest, in the quantities found, not necessarily detrimental. To be fair, there are potentially and relatively many more environmental, habitual (smoking and drinking), and dietary chemicals (aspartame/ Nutrisweet) that are far worse for you and your baby than Thrive Nutrition, but...My overall take on this subject is to be as organic and clean with your nutrition as you can. It is 9 months and, as much as I love Thrive products, not worth the minimal risk. I would have ABSOLUTELY NO PROBLEM with a woman during her child-bearing years using any of the products, as they promote optimum health and fitness, but once you find out that you are pregnant, discontinue the Capsules and DFT products. Clearly, obesity, diabetes, hypertension, nutritional deficiencies and similar maladies common in our culture are many times more of a problem in preconception health, pregnancy, or lactation than the pursuit of general well-being, weight control, and nutritional supplementation. This is admittedly a very conservative take on this subject, but most would rather err on the safe side! Hope this helps...
