Just goes to show that humankind has become desensitized to kindness and compassion: Fri Aug 9, 2013 5:46 PM The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Guadalupe man accused of trapping a dog in a cardboard box and leaving it out in the heat, where it died. Ricardo Ramirez Cupis, 59, was booked into county jail Friday on suspicion of felony animal cruelty. Deputies were called to a residential area that morning on reports of a foul smelling cardboard box that appeared to have a dog nose peeking out of it. It had been left by the curb to be taken away as garbage. The Sheriff’s Office said a witness noticed the same box sitting outside Ramirez Cupis’ home earlier in the week. The witness told investigators about seeing Ramirez Cupis carrying a box along the street last Saturday. At one point, he dropped the box, and out scurried a small, brown and tan dog. The witness said Ramirez Cupis captured the pup and secured it inside the box with bindings. The Sheriff’s Office said Ramirez Cupis admitted to leaving the dog in the box, saying it was very sick and he didn’t want it to die in his house.
