This is pretty cool video, only 17 seconds and worth a watch. What she has written below about crates and training has always been my theory as well. As long as it is a positive place for them, they actually love their own space even once out of the puppy phase. (However, I dont believe they should be put in them for hours on end when you are home.) Once mine get out of puppy stage, I dont keep a crate for them, but would if I had space and they liked to go in it to rest.
