This is something about nothing ... or something about everything. Many here are long time lab people those who just knew Labs were the dog(s) for them from the get go. Others are first timers -- and still others are on the fence -- looking, thinking ... still not quite sure. I am a pet mom to my 4th LRCP pup ... (all seniors when we found each other ... all specials in one way or another ... Two were bonded (old, blind, diabetic, congestive heart issues) ... one was a FF (with major separation issues) ... my latest an all around sweet girl with a high prey drive -- my right arm now drags on the floor -- but we are working on it ... leash manners 101 ... again.). The handsome yellow guy (age 13+ and still going strong has been with me for 3 years and is now on his 3rd sweet older Labby Lady -- Gracie. He is blind as a bat ... err make that blind as an adorable Lab. He is the only one who does not know he is blind.) So why am I writing except to show off my sweet furry family members? When you go from 1 Lab to 2 it is always a roll of the dice. In many cases it is a smooth transition -- in others -- it takes time -- and in a few rare cases it just is not meant to be. After the spreading of wings of 2 pups in less than 2 years I was afraid it might not be a good idea to go for 3 with Q-bear. He grieved over his mate (Bella) .. and sorta missed Abby (she was one of a kind). Well, we took the plunge and 5 weeks ago added Girly / Gabby / Gracie to our home. I did not know what to expect. I had done her transport .. sweet RVA came to NoVA... to her foster ... and I was in love from that point ... then 4 weeks later ... to me. I just knew from the ride north from Fredericksburg this girl was meant to be here .. but it took a little time. Were we really ready for another senior? (Girly / Gabby / Gracie will be 10 on 10/1/14) Can you tell what I am thinking? Have you ever seen such a smile from anyone .. let alone a blind guy? Yes -- I think it is working. Gracie LOVES everyone and everything (except bunnies, squirrels and cats). They took a little getting use to .. but I knew we were home ... make that a home .. when today I gave them each a busy bone. Each went to their space chewed for a bit. Q-bear finished. Gracie is a dainty eater. She picked up hers ... dropped it in front of Q ... nosed it to him to munch on. He did .. and nosed it back to her. Yes, I
