This made me break down crying as I remember that when my Mom´s hair started falling out because of chemotherapy, she made the decision to shave it all off. She did not want to go to a salon and no one wanted to be the one to shave her head. I remember steeling myself, said yes I will do it. I remember that it was a hot and muggy tropical afternoon. She sat on an antique metal chair making conversation in an attempt to distract me from my sadness (I had begun to tear up). We hugged and had a beer after that. I got my own cancer diagnosis 5 years later (on the phone, sitting in an empty & dark apartment). That was the moment I remembered. Never lost my hair though as I was lucky to have a treatable form.
