This medical corridor scam is a terrible idea in so many ways, its honestly hard to find a reason for proceeding. Where are all of the medical providers going to come from, Gainesville, Tampa, Orlando, St. Petersburg, Leesburg? Uhhh NO! The only providers that would go there would be those from Inverness, Crystal River, and Homosassa. This will be terrible on the local economies of Inverness, Crystal River, and Homosassa. Everyone on both sides of the county, particularly those in healthcare, should be contacting every commissioner and telling them to stop this absolutely stupid idea, widen 491, remove barriers to private industry, and GET OUT OF THE WAY! The people that live there, moved there because of the rural atmosphere, the medical businesses that are there are sharp business minds, they dont need BOCC involvement or tax dollars to be successful. Just because you planned it 24 years ago doesnt mean its a good idea, community planning and economic growth strategies have changed over the years. Catch up or retire, please!
