This morning my grandma, or as I call her, Lola Lagring, passed - TopicsExpress

This morning my grandma, or as I call her, Lola Lagring, passed away. After 22 years I’m still not sure if I spelled her name correctly lol. This woman was absolutely incredible. Ask anyone in my family about her, they have just absolutely amazing stories about her. She was the main breadwinner in the family, she helped save lives in the Philippines when the Japanese invaded, and most importantly, she took care of me like I was her own son while I was growing up. I remember every year for my birthday and even to my last one, she would give me a shirt and $20.00. I always looked forward to the 20 bucks, the shirts were never really that fashionable or at least my style, but she did her best haha. She’s one of those grandmother’s where she seemed mad at you if you came over and didn’t eat food. So, she always made sure we were fed and she always cooked. Without a doubt, this is one of the strongest women I’ve ever known. I don’t have time to share her whole life story, but man, what a powerful survivor. Death has tried taking her many times, even a few months ago, but she kept on fighting. Even 10 years ago, she was hit by a vehicle while crossing the street, flew onto the roof of the car, and still survived. She wasn’t expected too, but she kept on fighting. Survivor is the main word for her, maybe even fighter. But most importantly, everyone knew her as a quiet woman who truly showed her love through insurmountable actions . I love you, Lola. I know your last few months was a lot of suffering, and you had strong faith in God, so without a doubt I know you’re in a much happier place now. You lived quite a fulfilling life, gave me a wonderful mother, and I’ll never forget how much you cared for me. I love you.
