This video is important to post since Free Thought Project picked a very insidious photo for their coverage. This rally was a white supremacist and fascist rally and we need to understand that clearly. Being anti-State is not in and of itself revolutionary. Fascists are also anti-State when it serves their movement. The history of the gun owner vs. victim paradigm is directly linked to white supremacist views on what thugs and criminals are - views that inform the death of Trayvon, Mike, and Eric, which are used to defend their murders at the hands of police. Sheriff Mack and his ilk in the militia movement ran to the defense of a rich white mans cattle grazing on public land - a true welfare queen if there ever was one - but went to Ferguson to patrol against looters and criminals. We need, in the movement against the state, to differentiate between revolutionary and reactionary forces and we need to drain all support for racists and fascists who would rather murder people of color and Leftists than to see a convenience store burned down - who oppose state violence in the abstract over their precious guns but defend it in its most glaring example in reality. Im not opposed to gun ownership - Im opposed to portraying the ownership of guns and their vulgar display by reactionaries as revolutionary or good for all of us because it isnt. The Huey Newton Gun Club is a better example to uplift at this moment than a bunch of raving lunatic middle class white people who have already proven to be pro-capital, anti-women, anti-immigrant, and anti-communist.
