This weekend we paid our last respect to Mr Velleriano Kanyangoga - TopicsExpress

This weekend we paid our last respect to Mr Velleriano Kanyangoga of Ishaka in Bushenyi district. He was a former LC III chairperson and popularly referred to as Chairman in Ishaka. He passed away on Thursday. I first met him in 1997 in Bushenyi. He was a veteran politician in the area, an educationist, a devoted Catholic who served his community tirelessly through numerous development and empowerment projects and a SACCo. We were much humbled by the warm welcome from the multitudes from all over Western Uganda who attended the funeral. What is the relationship? You may rightly wonder. Mr Kanyangoga is the dad to our Foster Son Fr Dunstan Asiimwe (in the photo below). We adopted him when he came to Alokolum National Major Seminary in Gulu for his Theology course in 1997. He successfully completed in 2000, joined St Pauls Seminary in Fort Portal and became a deacon in 2004. He was ordained Priest in 2005 and currently Fr Dunstan works as a Resident Priest in Nyamitanga Cathedral, Mbarara Archdiocese. He was the first of 3 Foster sons we have hosted at our Gulu home. They say Death is not extinguishing the light; it is putting out the lamp because dawn has come. We shall keep your spirit alive; Fare thy well Mr Velleriano. RIP
