Thoughts from Chief Sjolander... Our oldest child... The pictures you see here are of me and our oldest son Corey. He came back to the states last week and was here in time for Rose Fest. He marched in our parade with our local color guard and seeing him walk down the street while I led our parade was one of my proudest moments. He is moving out of state for his next assignment and Ill help him move. Its funny, Ive helped him move a lot over the years and it never gets easier. Ill do fine until I get on the plane to fly home, then Ill lose it. Ive not been the perfect parent and Ive learned a lot along the way...Here are some lessons Ive learned. Teaching your kid to ride a bike is important...teaching them to fix it is just as important. Eating your vegetables is important...hiding them under your napkin wont work. They will make their own bed when they are older. Tough love is never easy...But its still love. Having your kid mad at you because you stand your ground is ok...Here is one if my famous sayings. Im your parent, not your friend. If you want a friend, get a dog (This causes instant eye rolling around here) I could go on and on, but I have a cross county road trip to go on with a solder, his dog, and a trailer filled with his possessions. Life is for living, learning, teaching, and making memories. This trip will be a great way to do all the above. Stay safe, Lee
