Today I saw kindness. I was in the bank this afternoon, and an older gentleman was in line a few people in front of me. He had a walker, a bag of groceries and a wrapped foot. The two ladies in front of him said, Why dont you go in front of us- you might need a little extra time.. As he was making his way toward the teller, a young woman who was on her way out discretely put $20 in his hand and gave him the most sincere hug. I heard her quietly say, This might help.. The man seemed overcome, paused, and I could tell he was crying. He asked the teller, What did I do to deserve such kindness today?. On his way out, the woman at the front of the line got out of line to open and hold the door for him, and the security guard said to him, Thats the way it should be, sir.. It was as if as this bank full of people collectively embraced him with kindness. Lucky ME for witnessing for compassion and respect for a stranger....in line at Bank of America on a Tuesday afternoon.
