Today I will try to not take myself so seriously, knowing you love - TopicsExpress

Today I will try to not take myself so seriously, knowing you love me in all my humanness. I was sitting in my salon, feeling quite pampered as someone worked on my fingernails and another on my feet. Settling into this moment of manicure/pedicure luxury, I was interrupted by a new employee who approached me and asked if I would like to have my eyebrows waxed. I politely declined because the last time I had that procedure done, it removed most of my forehead as well. This girl, with all the determination of a terrier, was not going to be left with idle hands! She continued in a loud voice, “How about your mustache? Can I wax your mustache?” When I went home, I stared in the mirror and realized yet another gift from our compassionate God: as we age and things begin to grow on us, our eyesight begins to fade, too, so we remain blissfully unaware! And I thought of something else too. I could hardly wait to tell my close circle of friends with whom I share the triumphs and tragedies, the unexpected joys, and—in this case—the petty indignities of life. Solomon had it right: “Just as lotions and fragrance give sensual delight, a sweet friendship refreshes the soul” (Proverbs 27:9 msg).
