Today my church, Substance Church, celebrated its 10yr anniversary. Ive only been around for half of its life, but Pastor Peters preaching was a revolutionary part of my return to God after 5 years of apathy and playing the cultural-Christian game. Soon after we joined the church I went back and listened to one sermon every morning as I was getting ready for work until I was completely caught up. So many amazing people have pastored me, believed in me and launched me into ministry. I wouldnt be in ministry today if people like Mark Mellen and Justin Greiman didnt trust me and give me leadership opportunities like they did. I owe you both so much. I remember the first time I spoke to Pastor Peter at a 101 class. I tried to start a debate about the validity of Scripture (a struggle that haunted me for years). I was THAT guy and Im sure it was emotionally exhausting to have that conversation with me after preaching two sermons that morning and teaching a class on the history of the church. Thanks for your patience and long-suffering! God has done so much in a short 5 years, and Substance has been such a huge part of that journey. Through the ups and downs God keeps telling me that I can follow Pastor Peter because he is a man who is being led by the Spirit, and I can trust that God is at work in and through Him. This is MY church.
