Today we remember and celebrate the life of the matriarch of R&B, Etta James. Miss Peaches enjoyed a a truly fruitful career, winning six Grammys, 17 Blues Music Awards, being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and recording albums with nearly every major record company in the span of six decades. She struggled in her youth, cycling through a series of foster parents before securing an opening spot on Little Richards national tour at the age of 17 as part of the group The Peaches. As her fame and clout grew, she was catapulted to stardom as one of Americas most sought after acts. Finally, 1961 she released her debut studio album, considered one of the most enduring albums of all time, At Last! The album shares the name with its most powerful composition, and one of Harrys magna opera. Ettas version of At Last peaked at the #2 spot on the R&B Billboard Charts and is played countless times on the radio to this date!
