Today would have been my Moms 100th birthday. We all thought it was a good bet shed make it that far, buy she would have been pretty cranky and worn out by now if she had! She was a force of nature. My sister and I were just talking about how when we came home from school she would either working in the garden, at her desk charting stocks, making her own clothes on her sewing machine or, according to my sister, playing the piano. She never stopped - We are SO MUCH alike! My clearest memory of her playing the piano was when I was about 4 years old - I was climbing around on the couch and stuck my wet finger into a light socket (Okay, I wasnt that bright of a kid) which permanently imprinted As Time Goes By on my brain. She was playing that classic 30s stride piano style. She was very intelligent, open minded, and fully engaged with life. Okay, she also talked incessantly, which was pretty annoying - and I have a feeling Im headed that way myself. Uh oh. Heres a shot of her on a fishing trip…. Happy birthday Mom!
