Todays word: You are what you are for God’s glory Numbers.17:1-8 [NIV] 1.The LORD said to Moses, 2 .“Speak to the Israelites and get twelve staffs from them, one from the leader of each of their ancestral tribes. Write the name of each man on his staff. 3 .On the staff of Levi write Aaron’s name, for there must be one staff for the head of each ancestral tribe. 4 .Place them in the tent of meeting in front of the ark of the covenant law, where I meet with you. 5. The staff belonging to the man I choose will sprout, and I will rid myself of this constant grumbling against you by the Israelites.” 6 .So Moses spoke to the Israelites, and their leaders gave him twelve staffs, one for the leader of each of their ancestral tribes, and Aaron’s staff was among them. 7. Moses placed the staffs before the LORD in the tent of the covenant law. 8. The next day Moses entered the tent and saw that Aaron’s staff, which represented the tribe of Levi, had not only sprouted but had budded, blossomed and produced almonds. 9. Then Moses brought out all the staffs from the LORD’s presence to all the Israelites. They looked at them, and each of the leaders took his own staff. ………………………………………………………………………………… When the world turns away from God, He has a way to bring the people back to Him. Each time the world turns away from God, it is because they have lost faith in Him and follow their own gods in place of Him. They worship their own gods with the hope of achieving their natural desires in their lives. Many who have made it in life without worshipping God have come to believe that it is their gods who assisted them, not God the creator of heaven and earth. Even your neighbours, relatives and friends really know that you have tried it your own way but failed. It is under such unfavourable conditions when God shows His Mighty hand. Just as the staff of Aaron sprouted under no favourable conditions with no roots, no water, no soil but it produced fruit. When you are moved from grass to grace, the first person to know is you and you praise the Lord for that. You will not go about, bragging that it was by your effort. The neighbours and the world around you will understand that it was not by your resources but by God. As a result, because they also want change in their lives, they will also come to Christ to get the same relief [Matthew.11:28]. They will also learn to worship God because they saw you doing it and it yielded some results.
