Tonight our Son was inducted into the National Honor Society for Master Degree program in Public Health at Eastern Virginia Medical School. Mom and Dad couldn’t be more proud. Especially as I was going through some of Tim’s high school stuff a while back I found a letter from the National Honor Society of High School Students. It went something like this… Dear Mr. Whiting, We were quite surprised to receive your request for admission in the National Honor Society. Normally we approach the student for membership, not the other way around. However we did review your resume. While your athletics achievements are impressive our society is based more on scholarship than the ability to catch or throw a ball. Although we did notice your A in art for the lamp you built. Quite nice. Even though you have dated most of the girls currently in your schools society we couldn’t quite figure out what achievements they were recommending you for. We realize you should have received an A+ for the speech you gave your Dad when He let you use the motor home to go to St. Ignace and while cleanliness is next to Godliness we feel you may have had an ulterior motive for bringing the vehicle back in such fine shape. And, the fact that you made it back without police escort in very impressive. After checking our records we find our quota for your school is full this year and next year you will be somewhere else.
