***Tyrell ((Main character)) and Pooter ((his little brother))*** I walked upstairs to Pooter’s room. Pops turned back on his jazz music; the harmony between the saxophones and piano keys made love to my ears as I crept up to the second floor. Pooter had his controller in his hand. He glanced towards me for a second to see who was entering his room, then quickly turned back to his video game. He spoke to me but his eyes never left the screen,“Hey ‘Rell. I gotta beat this boss. He spits fire out his mouth and then he jumps up and I gotta use these two buttons.” He pressed them as he spoke, “to shoot my laser gun and bombs at him. He hard to kill and I keep dying. I almost had him one time.” Mama decorated Pooter’s room with a Spongebob Squarepants theme. He had a life-size sponge poster that hung on his door. Small jellyfish were positioned sporadically on his walls. The rug on his floor read, “welcome to the Krusty Krab”, and it had a picture of Mr. Krab holding one of his krabby patties. His Patrick starfish stuffed animal was on his bed waiting for him to go to sleep. I felt like a child again every time I entered his room. I sat down on the bed next to him and watched him play. He was focused on the game, but all I could do was think about him and how much he meant to me. What I would do if anything ever happened to him. I loved Pooter like he was my own son. “Dang, I died again! ‘Rell, can you help me kill him?” He spoke while he handed me the remote. It was more of a demand than a question. “Which one is to shoot the lasers?” He pushed the button to show me. “Which one for the bombs?” He pushed the other button. “And this is how you jump. He gon’ be throwin’ stuff on the ground and you gotta jump over it.” “Ok.” I beat the boss in about 2 minutes. He thought I was the coolest person alive. He thanked me and quickly asked for the remote back. I kissed him on the forehead and handed it back to him. I got up to walk out the room, “Pooter, we finna go to Ihop in a few minutes.” “Ok.” His eyes never left the screen. “I love you Pooter.” He paused the game, walked towards me and gave me a hug, “I love you too ‘Rell.” If you have a minute, please check the promo! ***AMAZON REVIEW*** I dont read books often, but this book took me to a whole new world! The author wrote in a way where I could actually picture myself being there. Everyday I came home & ran to this book because it created such suspense. I highly recommend this book! youtu.be/2JiwEga2Q5s
