UNDERGROUND SHIFT SUPERVISOR - NEW ZEALAND Job Code: 6092BR Job Function: Drilling Services Region: APAC Location: Tauranga, New Zealand Two exciting opportunities currently exist within the Drilling Services group to join the New Zealand team as an Underground Shift Supervisor. These roles will be based at Waihi, on New Zealands North Island. Reporting to the Operations Manager, these leadership roles require the expertise of an experienced underground driller who has shown demonstrated leadership and organisational abilities in their current or a previous role. The key purpose of these positions is t o achieve consistent safe drilling with maximum core recovery to meet our client contractual objectives. This will involve supervising and coaching team members to meet production schedules in a manner that complies with all BLY and client safety policies and requirements. Key role tasks: • Provide ongoing coaching and counseling to develop your team. Address any performance or conduct issues as they arise in a timely and respectful manner. • Co-ordinate and allocate work as required to meet drilling plans and run rates in most cost effective / efficient way while meeting safety compliance requirements, including the co-ordination of relief team members as required. • Complete and approve daily rig reports to send to contracts administrators for payroll and client invoicing requirements. • Provide technical advice to staff to effectively manage rig and down hole problems. • Conduct daily shift changeover meetings. • Undertake check at commencement of shift to ensure all drills have correct materials in use. • Liaise with client regarding the progress of the drilling program. • Ensure compliance with safety rules and SWPs. • Assist team members in development of safe methods of work through risk assessments and job safety analysis. • Report all safety hazards or workplace injury/illness to Management immediately. • Lead investigations of all incidents / hazard management issues that occur in work area and on shift and ensure effective corrective actions are identified, implemented and monitored in a timely and productive manner. Key capability requirements: • Extensive underground drilling experience. • Proven leadership ability. • Ability to problem solve. • Good communication skills - written and oral. • Current First Aid Certificate. • Ability to pass a National Police Clearance. • Candidate must be able to pass a Boart Longyear FCE Medical • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
