UPDATE ON BETHEL ANIMAL SEIZURE All animals have been removed from the premises on Laird Road in Bethel. At this time, we have had NO euthanasias. Dr. Joseph Abbraccio will be conducting more detailed examinations of all the animals tomorrow. We will be Feline Aids/Leukemia testing all remaining cats and rabies vaccinating/spaying/neutering all animals. Upon initial evaluation, 2 dogs seemed highly aggressive and euthanasia was probable. However, upon moving, both dogs have made an attitude transformation and are warm, friendly dogs! The greatest hurdle is the age on many of these dogs as they are all a minimum of 10 years old and have corresponding minor health issues such as arthritis, tumors, sight loss, etc. However, with the exception of Andy, a grumpy old Jack Russell, all are responsive, friendly and gentle. If you would be willing to open your home to one of these senior citizens, PLEASE contact me and we will process applications. My deepest appreciation to TEAM RESCUE as follows! Carries Rescue, Middletown Humane Society, Pets Alive, Mid Hudson Sanctuary, Amy and Les Kristt and their team, Sullivan County SPCA, Tony Carlucci and the Villa Roma and all of you who donated. I value the support of the Sullivan County Sheriffs Department and their commitment to insure this will not happen again. There will be more pics to follow and I will update you as information is available.
