Unfortunately due to poor availability, the Ladies had to concede the 3’s game today, but pleased to report that both the 1’s and 2’s won their games 1-0. The 1’s had a tough battle against a rather physical side second in the league opposition, but Ashford applied pressure from the start and didn’t let the visitors settle on the ball and forced them into making mistakes. Emma Hynes in particular drove hard and did some great runs, despite being under heavy pressure. Ashford’s efforts brought reward in the first half when striker Jackie Parsons calmly dribbled past two defenders and slotted the ball home from an acute angle to make the score 1-0. The second half continued in the same vein, but the Ashford defence stood firm and the 1’s secured their second win of the season. The 2’s were supplemented by some 3’s players including Kate Thompson, Irene Okello and Sue Lane for their away game against undefeated Imperial Medics 1’s. Things didn’t start well for Ashford, when full back Kirsty Boxell injured her right foot, and recovering from injury substitute Freddie Newman, was called to fill in for the rest of the game. Playing in their alternative white kit, Ashford quickly after the injury, with all players working together to create several chances in front of goal. Unfortunately none were initially converted until a good cross from the left created a chance for Freddie Newman on the right, which she duly converted to put Ashford 1-0 up. In the second half the visitors played better, but Cal Antell in particular remained solid in defence, as the Ashford team work broke down rather and none of the goal chances created were converted. However the score remained at 1-0 and the 2’s continued their 4 match unbeaten run in October and remain in second spot in Division 2. The full results are shown below an: 1’s beat Winchmore Hill & Enfield 1’s 1’s (home) 1-0 2’s beat Imperial Medics (away) 1-0 3’s conceded their game so they have lost 2 league points and goals. The Mens 1s battled back from being 5-1 down at half time to Aylesbury 1s, to secure a 5-5 draw at home, whilst the 2s continued their super unbeaten run with a convincing 4-0 win away over South Bucks 1s. Very pleased to also report that the 3s got back to winning ways with a 4-2 win at home v Wycombe 4s, whilst unfortunately the 4s lost 1-6 away to Eastcote 8s.
