Unfortunately, years of pent-up hostility and frustration have little to do with the facts. No doubt there are still times when racial-based injustice happens. At one time in our nations history, it was likely the shameful norm. The evidence here, however, shows this is not an injustice but clear-cut self defense in the case of a drug-influenced young man with a big grudge and something to prove. We have to be able to have some semblance of objectivity as so many witnesses apparently did, without racial bias. Praise God. In the meantime, the Rev Martin Luther Kings heart would break to see the irrational violence and looting attempting to pass as payback for racial injustice. During an era when the racial mix that is America should be most united against the very real threat of Islamic radicals, our leaders seem more bent on fanning the blind passion of division. That does not reflect the intent of my heart or that of so many Americans of all colors and creeds. Please pray for healing grace and unity that only a loving God can imbue.
