Update On My Injured Husband Spencer. Thanks For Your Support And Prayers. Spencer is beginning to recover now three weeks after his second surgery. He was stabbed in the abdomen by an obviously mentally ill individual on August 15 requiring emergency surgery and 6 days in the hospital -- 4 in the ICU. Six weeks later he required another surgery for a double hernia which was caused by pressure from blood which filled his abdomen to the point he looked like he was pregnant. The second operation was problematic because of organ binding from the scar tissue from the original stabbing. He has healed very slowly because his body has reacted to the tacks used in the hernia operation and left him very swollen. Were watching it closely to make sure it doesnt develop into a major infection. So far he just has a constant low grade fever. Dr. Hammacher, our surgeon at Vail Medical says Spencer is very lucky to be alive ... that if the knife had gone one inch to either side he would have bled to death. I think God was looking over him and that he still has good things to do for the world. Spencer has not returned to work yet which has been quite hard on our business because previously he made all of our sales. . He is often really tired but was too nervous to take afternoon naps, fearing another attack while he slept, until Friday when he felt comfortable enough to get two hours of restful healing sleep. I think it will get better from here on. He is starting to take short walks with me but cannot yet climb hills. The doctors think they can correct other injuries from the attack with cortisone shots or minor surgeries but we will find out on Monday, Nov 3 after he gets his MRIs. He has a torn ligament in his wrist, a dislocated shoulder with a deep muscle tear and they think a torn meniscus in his knee. Many of you have asked who and why he was attacked. He was attacked by our landlords boyfriend who was unreasonably angry over Spencer cutting the grass. He was released on a very small bail, and charged with very little, until recently when they raised the charges to 1st Degree Assault with a deadly weapon. We see him around town all the time and he sometimes taunts Spencer. Legal proceedings, medical and financial problems are ongoing and daily, so putting this behind us is not really possible except to try to stay positive and deal with things without emotion and every day be thankful for the good things in our life. From this weve learned how blessed we are by the many good, caring people are around us. Weve had such an outpouring of support, healing prayers and energy. I know it is helping. I have to admit that I am very tired trying to run the art business on my own with long hours and no days off. But I truly believe good will come from this in some way. The original case number in Eagle County, CO was 2014-001389. I think that was changed because the case was moved to district court so it probably has a new number. We will continue to hold our 20% discount sale to help with all these expenses and Spencer being out of work. Ive had to hire two extra people as a result. Thanks so much for your support. Sincerely, Julia energyartistjulia
