Vacancy: SOCIAL AUXILLARY WORKER – INTAKE AND STABILISATION PROGRAMME The Homestead (Projects for Street Children) requires a registered Social Auxiliary Worker for our Intake Shelter based in Woodstock, Cape Town. The Homestead Intake Shelter provides an intake and stabilisation programme that successfully transitions over 100 children a year away from the street. Each year 37% of the children in this programme are reunified successfully back home to their families with ongoing support, 27% are moved on to alternative care, 18% remain in the shelter for ongoing stabilisation, 9% remain unstable and 9% abscond. It will be the role of the Social Auxiliary worker to assist the social worker with her therapeutic programme and especially with stabilising and reaching out to hardened and absconding children. The Social Auxiliary worker will also have admin, family preservation and other responsibilities to do with ensuring the ongoing success of this programme as well as for the ongoing care and development of the children in this programme. Reporting directly to the Unit Social Worker, this position offers a keen remuneration package, including a provident fund and 13th cheque, to the right candidate.
