WHAT DO MISSISSIPPI VOTERS REALLY WANT?? I don’t think I’m - TopicsExpress

WHAT DO MISSISSIPPI VOTERS REALLY WANT?? I don’t think I’m stepping too far out on a limb to say that one thing we all really want is for this U.S. Senate primary/runoff election to come to an end! Now, I have to ask… Do the majority of registered Mississippi voters really want an open primary, a closed primary, or the present mixed primary? Some believe that all of the absurd rhetoric which continues to come from the McDaniel camp is not truly about legal challenges of individual ballots, instead it seems to be more about a sore loser and his camp not being successful in dissuading or in some cases intimidating voters from coming to the polls to begin with. Point in case… signs on precinct doors on June 24th which read “Republicans Only”. Hmmm….digest that for a moment. In my book, all of our elected officials should represent and be attuned to the needs of democrats, republicans, independents, etc. alike, no matter what “letter” happens to be by their name on the ballot. Our officials are public servants to ALL, not just to a particular segment of constituents based on a political party affiliation, a group (i.e., Tea Party), or race. It is my opinion that McDaniel could have tried to appeal to those outside of his support base. However, he chose not to. Now McDaniel and his supporters are mad and throwing political tantrums because he lost the runoff. He and his supporters obviously believe that open and mixed primaries violate the parties’ rights of association, even though they are both constitutionally upheld. Instead of McDaniel continually exhibiting the lack of true professionalism, sportsmanship, statesmanship and leadership…I say stop throwing daily tantrums, face the reality that you did not win the runoff, and finally graciously concede the race to Senator Chochran. By the way, with the type of responses we have been seeing over the last few weeks from Senator Cochran’s opponent, I would think McDaniel supporters should take great pause (many have) and ask themselves if they are sure he is still their candidate of choice. In my opinion, McDaniel is only hurting himself and those closest to him as he continues his tirade with whoever will listen. Like many of you, I am appreciative of the fact that Thad Cochran is a Senator to ALL Mississippians and glad to see the Cochran campaign moving forward and focusing on the November general election!
