We have had them two weeks, and plan on fostering them until they are eight weeks old at which time we shall return them to the SPA...however we shall try to find a wonderful home for the mother. Last night as we were preparing to go out for the evening we had an urgent phone call from a young mexican man who rescues animals in Queretaro. Apparently someone had found four newborn kittens in the trash and they needed a nursing mother urgently. I of course couldnt refuse, (since time was of the essence) so we drove to Queretaro to pick them up. We spent the whole night up with them and again early this morning helping the mama adjust to her newly aquired kittens which she did so graciously and lovingly. Unfortunately one of the kittens is injured badly and i dont know if it will make it, it must have been thrown hard because it cries constantly, twists and turns and cannot feed properly :( We shall need to take it to a vet tomorrow. It is a very difficult task for her to feed so many kittens...and we are helping her by feeding some of the larger kittens with formula through a syringe so she is not so overwhelmed. As you can imagine we are needing to feed her very well to keep her nourished and healthy while she is a milk machine! Our costs daily just to feed and care for her are at least $6-7 a day in food as we are giving the kittens formula as well . On average we are giving the queen 3 cans of fancy feast a day plus dry food + formula. Its a lot of work and a bit of a hardship on us, as well as a visit to the vet tomorrow. Many of you might remember me as someone who rescues and adopts cats out. Just a week or so ago i adopted out a siamese kitten and found a lovely home for her. I regularly rescue cats, and get them spayed/neutered and when possible adopt them out to good homes. I have never done this before but for the first time in my life i want to ask you if you could help with a small donation...anything will help. One dollar two, three, five. Whatever you can.
