Waking up for the dawn by Jonathon Lipsin My favorite time of the day is when i wake up in Barcelona. I want it early like now. it is 5.30 so i can take in the squid black ink night receding and the dawn just teasing and hinting lugubriously climbing steadily like Sisyphus up up until it peers over the horizon like a Hebrew scout of Joshua to see the Promised Land. Birds and bells and buttresses flying and sighing doves crying out of my head and into my heart. To travel such as i do is to never be satisfied with ordinary things. Make the extraordinary the ordinary and you will never be disappointed again. A solitary voice rises in a mystifying song from the plaza below. Madman or prophet ? who knows. A new day wakes blue sky is appearing I was always here she tells me You have to look beyond the night of illusion you have to trust
