Watching the riots and people smiling for the cameras as they loot is sad, disgusting and frankly a bit embarrassing. People call it misplaced rage or oppressed anger. I call it defiance and irresponsible. And before I get attacked, just know that I personally have been a victim of other race verbally and physically attacking me my entire sixth grade year with no recourse to the culprits which prompted more physical attacks and stealing from me. It forced a move to a different school and district. I never misplaced my rage. I practiced civil obedience. And last I heard one of the boys who tormented me is now spending life in prison. Looks like my method lost battles but ultimately won the war!! I thought we were passed this all what would Dr. King or Ghandi think of this behavoir.
