We are very excited to have started construction on another bottle school in the community of Las Joyas. The current school only had one classroom which was a make-shift building with half cinder-blocks and half wooden slabs. During the windy, dusty months, papers and other educational material would blow around and often disrupt class. Because of this, a majority of the students would go to another town to attend school which was a walk of 20 to 45 mins. Because of this lack of quality classrooms as well as shared lesson plans (due the lack of proper infrastructure) enrollment is very low.
