Charles Jenkins walked away from his unit in Korea, went across the DMZ and deserted to North Korea. He was a SGT when he left and didnt benefit from any lame promotions. He was gone for 44 years and the troops did not miss him, did not miss him and could have cared less about him. He was left behind and as far as the troops were concerned. Whats next for Bergdahl? A NYC ticker tape parade? A White House ceremony to award him an Army Commendation Medal? Whatever it is you can count on this militarily inept President to make the wrong choice.
