Well, I was all excited to get James discharged from the hospital - TopicsExpress

Well, I was all excited to get James discharged from the hospital when one MD decides to put a wrench in things. Apparently the majority of MDs feel James is stable enough to d/c, but one refuses to d/c James unless CTCA admits James as an in-patient. However, CTCA is full and cant take James as an in-patient. CTCA does have an in-house hotel room for us and MDs would be available if we needed them. This MD feels it would be too taxing on James to see his appts at CTCA tomorrow (even though he would be in a wheelchair) and ride home. So this MD refuses to give a d/c order and I have to sign James out as AMA if we want to see the MDs at CTCA who have been seeing James for over a year and know him best and his medical situation. This MD is OK with us going home on a four hour ride and later f/u with CTCA rather then us go to the on site hotel 5 minutes away with f/u with his regular doctors the next day. And to top things off, another MD comes in for palletive care and tells James how horrible sick he is and tries to get him to go home on hospice. So now James thinks I am risking his health to d/c him from this hospital since this doctor told him how critically sick he is. Now these are the doctors that had James one leg in the grave and wanted me to think about stopping treatments and having DNR orders and now they fear something bad will happen if we d/c James and f/u with CTCA? I and even the nurses are confused to say the least and not to mention James. My blood pressure is sky high I am sure and I have a headache. Nurse just said MD wrote d/c orders now after hours of going round and round. Lord help is all I am saying...
