Well, after receiving and setting up my new 39 4k monitor/TV for use as a monitor for my computer last week I must say the amount of desktop space is absolutely astonishing at 4k. I can actually have the equivalent of 4 - 24 browsers open in the 4 quadrants of the screen...and the clarity is even better than my current monitors. Dragging the open browsers between the 4k and the other monitors is very smooth and makes for even more desktop space as needed. If you are wondering why???...its partly for my photography editing among other things. The more space available, the more editing options are available without having to minimize windows and such or switch between open items. Everything is already open and its a matter of just moving the mouse to whatever one wants to use. As I am an Apple user, it didnt take very long to get it all setup...calibrating color, brightness, contrast, etc. But as I still need to use Windows 7 for a few things as a dual boot it took a bit of time setting it up with windows (not surprising...LOL). Since it is a 4k monitor I also decided to view some 4k content on YouTube. I must say it is impressive to see this streaming from the net but the compression quality YouTube uses kind of defeats the purpose of 4k...it really only looks like your watching a blu-ray...but streaming from the net. According to reviews, the quality jump from blu-ray to 4k is suppose to be like going from DVD to blu-Ray (on a proper 1080P TV, thats is quite the jump in quality)...and since 4k is 4times blu-Ray...the quality when viewed in raw 4k is suppose to be simply jaw dropping. I think I wait to find some uncompressed 4k content before I make my own view on this. Anyway, I must say Im completely impressed with the quality of 4k (at least for computing)...even though this is first generation...I must also say that when 4k becomes standard (maybe a while yet) our eyes will be in for a real candy coated treat...LOL. Until then 1080P is still very much adequate at least for TV and Blu-Ray and yes..puting!!! Update...after finding a Costa Rica 4k video on YouTube... I must say that that one is quite impressive...slightly better than blu-Ray but still not full 4k. It did make me smile though...I cant wait to see the real thing now though!!!
