Well, some of you just had to challenge my knowledge of Medicaid. Big mistake, because I spent over 31 year working in Medicaid eligibility. Let me say to you prior to the Patient Protection & Affordable Care Act of 2010 ( PP & ACA) there were close to 100 or more programs under the Medicaid program. No, I was not familiar with all of them after all those years. You only became eligible for some Medicaid programs after you applied for one and was denied and once denied the Worker is required to explore other possible Medicaid programs eligibility. The PP & ACA put and end to this situation. The rules of Medicaid are you are eligible from point of application. Because there are states who didnt opt into the Medicaid Expansion individuals applied for Medicaid through the health care exchanges. The Department of HHS is required to follow the rules of applications and all those who applied on time must be given the opportunity to provide the materials to prove eligibility and if provide aid in helping the individuals to obtain those materials. Thus the move to give those who applied prior to the March 31, 2014 deadline more time to provide the materials to prove their eligibility is required by the Medicaid application process. Always has been from the beginning through prior Federal Court Cases file in the 1970s. Some of you Republicans need to learn what is the poverty level and stay off TV until you do.
