Well, what was it like to be there, in the stands? And what was the walk home on the Green Mile like, after the game? I have never, ever seen a Grey Cup game where the only colour was green. There were a few Tabby fans scattered in the crowd, two of whom happened to be in front of us. With big flags. But the rest were all green. It was a home place Grey Cup game - a blue moon - it never happens. And yet, it did. How many records were broken? How many personal bests were bested? Geroy, Kory, the Riders, it goes on and on. It was the perfect game. And you know, Rider Nation, it ever would have happened if we hadnt gone through 2009. If the players hadnt experienced that particular loss, would they really have been up by that ridiculous score by half-time? The concrete was wet and the cardboard we brought along disintegrated within the first half. Kennis boots got soaked through so Tom happily went down before half-time, to avoid the crowd and found two pairs of socks and two bags. We performed an emergency boot removal, feet drying and dry socking with an added bonus of plastic bags in her boots to keep her feet dry. My mom would have been proud - she always sent us kids out to splash in the mud puddles with bread bags on both feet and an elastic on top. Man, that Tom is a nice guy - he missed a touchdown and a couple of other good plays while he was out foraging for Kenni. We laughed, we cried, we high fived. I almost but didnt cry at the end of the game but on the walk home on the green mile, I lost it. To see that kind of energy from people in Saskatchewan and to totally be in touch with why made it a highly charged moment. There were plenty of kids there too. It was one big block party. It was.
