What I got from our sermon today: You have to be careful how you read scripture. Careful not to use it to condemn from personal views and standards. Remembering that the scriptures in the new testament were written many year after the death of Christ, some scholars say 35 to 40 yrs. after. Most not from written parchments but from person to person as they "remembered" Jesus said this or that. Jesus taught love and forgiveness, compassion that we know for sure .... where did all the hatred, judgment and condemnation come from? Remember the old game called gossip? One person said a sentence then whispered it to the next and the sentence kept going until the last person heard it and then repeated the sentence? It never was the original sentence that started. Remembering exact words and statements from 35 to 40 yrs. ago would leave lots of room for peoples own interpretations to be put into things Jesus really said. Act on love and you will never go wrong. Never hate, try not to judge and be compassionate to everyone. When Jesus died, he died for All! He did not first ask what kind of person we were to see if he wanted to die for us. Christ died for everyone, that is true love and compassion! Everyone is included and no one was excluded. A salvation for everyone! Yep! This touched my heartstrings! So glad for Sunday Worship! Thanks Pastor Steve! We appreciate you and the knowledge you bring in your messages!
