What a complete and utter crock! Allen West and his ilk really ought to get a life. For starters, its actually improper for a civilian to use a military salute! Ronald Reagan began that practice in 1981. Before that, Presidents didnt return the salutes of military escorts. Dwight Eisenhower was a retired 5-star general and never saluted when in civilian attire. Also, Navy and Marine Corp personnel are technically not supposed to salute anyone whos uncovered (not wearing a hat). The fact that President Obama gave that latte salute, was, however technically against military protocol, an acknowledgement of two of his troops showing respect to the Commander in Chief. I believe America would be a better place if more of her citizens would show respect to the duly elected Chief Executive.
