What put my sister upon the pedestal………… 1. She is truly selfless. Enough or less than enough is not just for her; she shares it. She would rather have less than to see us empty. 2. She is the humblest. Ask her of the secret in climbing the top and she would never make the mountain higher than one can imagine. She never says “it is for the intelligent only” but rather she would say “as early as you start to care for a patient, deliver TLC at its best and never forget to be honest to your provider ALWAYS”- well no doubt I got a low score in NLE. 3. She is an ideal nurse. Nursing care is always about patient care. She always tells that to be an effective patient advocate, I must exemplify prudence and assertiveness- all I can say is OUCH! 4. She is clean and orderly at all times and in all places. Her source of strength, good vibes and proper conditioning is a clean environment-I think Nightingale must have had so much influence upon her. Be it her or other’s bed, comfort room, floor and canal, she sets them in tidy condition, otherwise they could be a source of her discomfort. 5. She is punctual. One attitude that I acquired from her is to arrive in work 10-15 minutes before the call time-well there were a few times that I was late but they were negligible when compared to others. I never saw her late in her hospital duties. 6. She values the balance between health and workloads. The only time she could review then was from 9:00 pm to 12:00 am. No matter how much she should review, she would make sure to do it within that time frame. She believes that sleep deprivation alters physiologic balance- I tried to consider the same belief but I overdid it; I slept a lot and reviewed only when I could smell failure which is a BIG NO to only 4-year-schooling contract. No doubt I had low grades. 7. She is very responsible. Negligence is never a circumstance to be cautious about. In whatever form of adversity, she finds a way to go though it just so that she can deliver to and perform the roles she assumes for her family in its entirety. 8. She has a very strong faith in God. She never forgets to pray and visits the church. Her success in surpassing even the most impossible journey is a proof of how generous God is in answering her prayers. Ate you have always been a perfect model to the family, a source of both aspiration and inspiration, and a priceless treasure to keep and remember forever. I know that your patience for us is thinning and nearly unstretchable. I know you are running out of your litanies to dissipate your disgust to us. I know you have placed yourself and your family at the humblest possible position in life to offer us buoyancy at the worst of our crisis. I know that you have been trying hardly to jack up your threshold to remain sensitive to our needs. I know that you always seek beyond your limits. And of all the things I know about you, one greatest secret I have just revealed to this world ….my sister is DARNA, a superhero!
