When I was boy my family lived in a small Kansas farming - TopicsExpress

When I was boy my family lived in a small Kansas farming community. I encountered a lot of firsts at this time in my life: the first girl I liked, the first time my two older sisters from California came to live with us, and my inauguration into the reality of racism. But another first was my introduction to Elvis Presley. I have my beautiful mother to thank for that. This was the mid-1970s. Before my infatuation with AC/DC, Van Halen, and any number of popular rockers, there was Elvis. During the summers I used to spin his records all day long. I neednt say how his untimely death affected my mother and I. And although our family was greeted by an unusual amount of trouble in White City, Kansas, I have many fond memories from that period of my life. I was shopping today, picking up a few grocery Items I had forgotten earlier in the week, when a song began playing on the stores sound system. It sometimes catches me off guard how music can transport us decades into the past and tug at our hearts. This is an Elvis tune Ive not listened to since I was a kid. And Ive never heard anyone do a cover of A Fool Such As I. I certainly had not considered a country rendition of it. Hearing it today made me a little nostalgic. Well, maybe more than a little. But mostly the song makes me think of my mother. Thanks for indulging me in my sentimentality. :) https://youtube/watch?v=CzDPaChuczk
