When Igede people stood-still for Nick Eworo - Odukelahos - TopicsExpress

When Igede people stood-still for Nick Eworo - Odukelahos primed for Igede cause, by Agi D.O The sign that the search by well-meaning people of Igedeland for a political leader that will not only be vocal, people-oriented , charismatic, but also possess needed clout and capacity, added to sound education is ending with Hon. Nick Eworo was evident when Igede people and their friends from all walks of life defied the heavy downpour yesterday to converge on the palace of Okubi of Ito (AdObi), Chief Cyril Okwute. And when the man whos currently serving out his tenure at the BSHA as Deputy Majority Leader (Eworo) representing Obi State Constituency is voted into the House of Representatives in 2015 to occupy Oju/Obis space, for which he is gunning, all the worries about Igede being enslaved by the dominant tribes because their political leadership in the first place is under the whims and caprices of tribal godfathers; the complaints of their rep lacking charisma, clout and other essential ingredients of modern leadership needed to trickle down development to Igedeland and people, will level out. And a new day will begin for a people long yearning for a departure from the mundane leadership that has not benefited the lot of Igede people. That is when Hon. Nick Eworo becomes their rep come 2015. So many people at the event believed. The foregoing is the summary of the words and hopes on every faces that added glamour to the very large gathering which Zone B people in Obi called to accept and appreciate the Ito Welfare Association (IWA) for zoning the House of Reps seat to their axis of Ito community. The event, which drew heavy crowds of young and old from Oju and Obi, culminated in the presentation of Hon. Eworo to the traditional council led by the royal father himself – Okubi of Ito – for blessing and endorsement, amidst cheers from the crowds. Okubi, in the midst of his council of elders did the expected, with a caveat to all sons and daughters of Ito to take note of the royal fathers blessing for Nick to win the election. Though non-partisan, the COE leadership, local government top brass, heads of many establishments - academia, government - religious, traditional, youth and women group leaders in the land registered their solidarity and support for Hon. Eworo. One of the most important segments of the colorful event, besides the endorsements and powerful support speeches delivered by the likes of Agi D.O, Barr. Jacob Ajene, aka BOJACO, and many eminent sons and daughters of Igede, and the dance troupess performances, Ito elders and the leadership of IWA confirmed the Zoning to B and berated the thugs who invaded and beat up members of IWA during the meeting in which the zoning was done, not long ago. Having watched the political events unfold in the last few months in Igedeland, Lagos, Abuja, Makurdi, Obi and Oju, I have no doubt that Hon. Nick Eworo seems to be on to a winner in the race for Oju/Obi House of Reps poll.
