When you choose to place your faith in God, you act, and God reacts! Eleanor Roosevelt said, “No one can hurt you without your consent. They cannot take away your self-respect unless you give it to them.” It’s not what happens to you that’s important; it’s your reaction to what happens that will determine your success or failure. No matter who betrays or rejects you, only you can take responsibility for your mental attitude. Betrayal and rejection can wound your heart so deeply that only God can help you to forgive your betrayer completely. Jesus forgave Judas. Paul forgave Demas. We must forgive those who have betrayed us as well. Refusing to forgive, for any reason, damns the soul. The Lord’s prayer says, “Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.” You don’t have to feel like forgiving before you can extend forgiveness. You must decide to forgive, and then do it! Prayerfully speak the words of forgiveness from your heart, and you will be pleasantly surprised at how quickly the pain of rejection and betrayal can be supernaturally healed. Take this step today!
