Where does your tax dollar go? Following is part of an article printed in the Athens Messenger. It is about the Route 33 by-pass of Nelsonville, Ohio. The project also includes a wildlife underpass for large animals, a culvert so small animals can go under the four-lane highway, a culvert for snakes to use, a wildlife bridge that animals can go under, an off-road vehicle culvert under the highway that animals also can use and three amphibian culverts. The amphibian culverts connect new and expanded wetlands on both sides of relocated Route 78. The wildlife "protection" part of the project will be about 10.4 million dollars.Check out the full article at athensohiotoday - Oh - by the way, the amphibian culverts are so snakes can crawl under a 4 lane divided highway instead of having to slither across it:) Something to think about:)
