While you work on the Tibetan cause, please also pay attention to Southern Mongolia, which has very little international coverage... This open letter to Chinese President Xi Jinping, the United Nations Human Rights Council and the U.S. Congress was posted on July 2 by Xinna 新娜韩, wife of prominent Mongolian dissident writer Hada 哈达. In the letter Xinna details how Hada was detained in a black jail on the outskirts of Hohhot, capital of Southern Mongolia (Chinese: Inner Mongolia) after he finished serving his 15-year imprisonment in 2010. The black jail was in a courtyard with barbed wires and guarded by two dozen police officers. The gate had a sign that says: Important Base for Scientific Research. No Entry. While Hada was locked up in the black jail, Xinna and their son Uiles (威勒斯), who were detained in a separate location, were taken to the black jail and told to persuade Hada. They refused and went on a hunger strike. They were taken back to the detention center while Hada also staged his hunger strike. The Chinese police charged Xinna with illegal business practice, after closing down her book store and confiscated all the books and handicraft items, one week before Hadas sentencing came to an end in December, 2010. Xinna was sentenced for three years, suspended for five years. Now the family are sending this letter and pleading for international attention. We know very little about the human rights abuses in Southern Mongolia. Your attention and support to Hada, Xinna and Uiles are greatly appreciated. Hada is a moderate who advocates for autonomy of Souther Mongolia.
