Wozs Tardis - 1977 - previous year been on a PHAB trip to Spain. 50/50 able bodied n disabled. Enjoyed it that much wanted to go again but was in between jobs, so me mum sorted me a bank loan out as guarantor for a couple of hundred quid. (As it happened I went on hol with PHAB for 10 years using hols from work n never begrudged me pals going on lads hols coz met loads of great people n acquired memories thatll last forever). Anyway week after bank loan me dad handed me a letter from Littlewoods. As I just started working at Kays catalogues a couple of days earlier, thought it was just a catalogue flyer. Opened it and inside was a cheque for £504 quid,only gone and won the pools- a bloody fortune as I was only on 40 quid a week. Went to bank to pay off said loan and when I told manager I won 1st divvy on pools you could see his eyes light up. After I said it was only 500 quid, I was soon shown the door. Week after 1st divvy paid half a million. Life story. My mate Martin Patterson advised me to treat mum n dad which I did n 2 weeks later Id blown it. But at least I can say I won the pools, and also had a great time in Spain that led to great friendships with those less fortunate than myself, giving me the outlook I have now on life. Led to me been an art tutor in Spain, filming a play in Jersey n leading me own youth group in Wales. Jacked it in after 10 years of giving me holidays up as going to many funerals of people I grew fond of got me down. In retrospect Id go back in a flash now tho.
